Black Cinema

Creative Black Cinema was founded by Porsha The Poet in Charlotte, NC, as an
initiative to engage the community in uncomfortable but necessary conversations
through lyrical healing. The event focuses on fostering dialogue centered around
iconic Black films, with the goal of breaking stereotypes, addressing trauma, and
encouraging healthy, community-driven conversations through the arts.

This transformative experience has now expanded along the East Coast, and
Creative Black Cinema is proud to partner with The Poetry Lounge, based in
Raleigh-Durham, NC, to bring this impactful showcase to the area.

The Poetry Lounge is a creative platform dedicated to providing safe spaces for
individuals to open their minds, share their hearts, and speak their truths. Known
for its themed open mic experiences, The Poetry Lounge has become a staple in
the Raleigh-Durham arts community. This partnership with the Lyrical Healing
brand merges both platforms’ missions to create a powerful artistic experience for
the Raleigh-Durham community through the Creative Black Cinema Showcase.
